Laragne XC Courses

Laragne XC ParaglidingHome of the Chabre open competition, Laragne is a fabulously versitile place to fly. Pilots have the choice of flying above thereliable feeds of the mountains or crossing the wide valleys and practicing real flatland flying, making use of the light winds. Laragne has reliable conditions, and is suitable for all levels of pilot, maninly due to it's huge choice of take off sites, well established infrastructure, infinite array of potential routes and tasks, breath taking scenery and local hospitality.

Our course in 2009 is from the 25 April to 1 May, inclusive. The conditions in the south of France in April are gentle and it's the best way to start the season and dust off the cobwebs in relaxed and beautiful surroundings with some great flying potential. On these trips we will be concentrating on airtime and relaxation so we will visit some great sites and have multiple take offs each day.

Laragne sites and weather

We will be staying with David and Rachel from Alez-up in Riviers, just outside Larragne.

The course will be run by Chris White and Dave & Rachel from Allez-up, who are all great mates of mine and have been working with me for over 7 years. All have a lot of experience flying in and around Laragne & St Andre and they are incredibly gifted pilots and instructors.

The plan is for students to fly into Nice airport, which is served by many of the low cost airlines. It is best to get a flight that arrives in the evening of the 24th. Our minibus will then be at the airport to match the arrival time of the last pilot. (approx. 22:00) As a group you will all be driven to Laragne. At the end of the week you will also want to book a flight out of Nice in the evening of 1st may. The minibus will then depart Laragne to match the earliest departure time, (approx.' 16:00 departure from Laragne)

Others choose to drive. (Laragne is a 12-14 hour drive from Calais, with motorway class roads almost all the way).
